Due to the recent controversy in forums with "rumor" to the status of our dogs. I have a statement, as to the status of our dogs and our mission to move forward with the breed. Don't believe everything you hear as a rumor and certainly don't pass judgement on those trying their best with an imperfect canvas. There are NO PLL free bloodlines anywhere in the world, and I say this with confidence. The Miniature Bull Terrier faces a challenge bigger than their health issues, the issues of rumor and envy will do much more harm to the breed. I commend those who stick by the breed, we truly have an uphill battle. My biggest hopes are that we can overcome the health issues, the small gene pool and most importantly those who choose to persecute the breeders who are doing their best with or without all of the facts.
In light of all of the recent attacks, I have made the decision that I will only breed dogs who are 5 to 6 years of age or older. If those dogs/bitches pass all of their health testing at those ages then we may consider using them in our breeding program. This will not tell us if those dogs are carriers, but at least we will be within the higher age range of issues known to present themselves and hopefully will not ever be using an affected animal. There really is no other option in my opinion as we do not yet have any DNA testing to tell us who may or may not be affected with PLL, much less who may be or are carriers. Most PLL cases don't appear to happen until between 2 and 6 years of age, so the safest time to even think about breeding would be closer to the age of 6 with clear eye testing (and still no real guarantees it couldn't happen later), clear heart and kidney testing. We have chosen to go with this, as we only want the best potential for our pups. If you want a Miniature Bull Terrier or want to breed Miniature Bull Terriers, be aware that PLL is a breed problem, heart and kidney issues are also of concern and if you own or breed Miniature Bull Terriers you are open to the possibility of these issues, it doesn't matter what country, breeder or bloodline. At this time using older animals in a breeding program seems to be the only viable option to give our pups the best chance possible of a long and healthy life.
I would like it known that Mr Sean Connry is luxated.
